The Slope of Grace

I am not a size.
My body is not a number,
which I expand or shrink to.
I am the Beloved.
You are the Beloved.

Train your eye to see inside the shell.
Take a photograph of the Light
that never goes out.
You are a painting.
Beautiful curves that slope with grace,
magnificent lines of limbs –
a waterfall of cascading hair.

You are not broken, faded, or torn
from the smooth shine of youth.
You are true.
You are strong.
You are very, very real.

This is beauty –
wisdom, intuition, acceptance.
The self has no bounds.

Amnesia and Awakenings by Cristina M. R. Norcross ~ Due to Be Published by Local Gems Press, Summer 2016!

Here is the front cover of my upcoming poetry chapbook, Amnesia and Awakenings, due to be published by Local Gems Press this summer! The artwork is by the very talented, Wisconsin artist, Kelsey Becker. I am in love with it. Thank you, again, to Kelsey Becker and the editors at Local Gems Press!

Amnesia and Awakenings Synopsis
(28 poems)

Amnesia and Awakenings is a collection of poems offering a guide map, through verse, for the transformation of spirit.  Some poems focus on life chapters and challenges.  Others paint a vivid picture of the changes in the natural world or the transformation of the body with age.  Every poem engages with hope, like a furtive bird singing on a branch to no one in particular, and also to everyone.  These poems ask the reader to listen and be more tender, more patient, with the self that is emerging every day.
